Tips for Turning Your Bedroom into a Christmas Wonderland
The Christmas tree is set up in the living room; there’s fresh cookies making the kitchen smell like warm dough; the lights are strung all along the outside of the house. Slowly, the rooms of your house are getting into the Christmas spirit – but what about your bedroom? Of all the places we relax at home, there’s no denying that we love our bedrooms. And yet, our bedrooms are one of the most challenging rooms to decorate for Christmas, usually because we focus on every other room first.
Fortunately, by incorporating these holiday ideas into your bedroom, you can transform the space into a true winter wonderland. With these decorative ideas spreading Christmas all throughout your bedroom, you’ll be able to go to sleep and wake up in a room that’s teeming with holiday cheer.
Start with Your Bedding
One of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit in your bedroom is to make sure your bed feels cozy and warm. If your current mattress is sinking to the floor, it may be time to upgrade your mattress. Having a mattress like an in-depth dreamcloud or one infused with foam will give you comfort like you’ve never felt before, which will feel great in winter. You should also make sure that your bed’s fittings—including the sheets, pillowcases, duvet cover, and decorative pillows—reflect a Christmas feel. Even if you don’t want to buy snowman-themed or Santa-covered fittings, you could use sheets or pillows that are red or green. Here’s a secret: sometimes, Christmas-themed bedding is the coziest bedding out there!
Decorate with Some Classic Christmas Items
Another way to transform your bedroom into a Christmas extravaganza is to add some of the classic Christmas decorations to the space. Decorate a small tree with lights and ornaments. If you cannot fit a tree anywhere in your room, you can add pine branches or pine garland for the Christmas-tree effect. Hang some tinsel above your windows or lining your ceiling. You can also, of course, hang Christmas lights—just be sure to turn them off before you fall asleep! Snow globes, nutcrackers, Santa figurines, candy canes, jingle bells, stockings; all of these things apply!
Focus on the Christmas Ambience
Just as important to decorating your bedroom as the physical decorations is the way your room feels – and that means playing into your other senses. The lights and Santa figurines will appeal to the eye, but what about the smell of your room? Buying scented candles—like peppermint, candy cane, or gingerbread—is a great way to make your room feel even more festive. There’s also wax melts and potpourri, which are both good options for giving your room a really potent Christmas smell. If you’re really getting into the ambience, you may want to add holiday sounds, like a crackling fireplace, by purchasing a diffuser that also plays music.
If you are currently working with a bedroom that has no Christmas feel, adding any number of these ideas into your bedroom will turn it into a space that aligns with the rest of your home’s holiday cheer!
