    Christmas "customs?"

I'm agnostic, but deep into genealogy. I came across a will of one my direct ancestors, who died in England in 1572. In his will, he expressed his wish that, "my body to be buried in the crowde [crypt] of St. Nicholas, according to the religious custom of Christmas ..." . Can any tell me what that entails?
