Yeah...plus, we are discovering the value of our tax dollars right now, even though our boys are not in school yet! Our 2 year old seems to be "behind" in his speech development. His hearing checks out fine, and he understands what we tell him. He just doesn't talk much. Our school district has assigned us an evaluator and development specialist to help bring him up to speed. That way, he won't be behind in a couple years when he actually starts school. Right now he only says about 15-20 words. He also doesn't like to try to repeat when you ask him to say something. He just shakes his head "no". We discovered that this is part of what the public school system provides us as a result of our tax dollars. I just think that's very cool!! Also, just so you know, he does NOT display any signs of autism. Simply a late-talker.

Both my kids were late talkers. Within 2 weeks after going to pre-school at the age of three they wouldn't stop talking.

Same here, with them being premature, they said that they should be doing this and that,
but we didn't do anything like speech therapy because we knew that they were fine...

Yeah...he turned 2 in July. I think he's fine. Although, as I mentioned, I'm happy to do whatever we can to help him along.

Yes Mike, my nephew was the same way. They did do speech therapy, but he basically started talking when he was ready. Today he is a senior in college (university) with a very sucessful academic experience. His younger brother was the same way and started talking at the same age - even without therapy!
