No way that's ever going to happen.

'I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future!' Scrooge repeated, as he scrambled out of bed. 'The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. Oh, Jacob Marley! Heaven, and the Christmas Time be praised for this! I say it on my knees, old Jacob, on my knees!' (Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol)

I used to go out when I was younger and had more energy. Now I stay home and decorate instead. If I do go out it will be late in the day and mainly to people watch - not shop. Most likely will avoid the malls as well!

I have been for the last 5 or 6 years but don't know if I will be going this year because now many of the stores are opening at midnight. I feel sorry for the people that have to work as now they really aren't getting Thanksgiving Day as most have to be there earlier.

My best friend & her mom go every year they LOVE it!Me on the other hand,I can't do it.......too many people!

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. ~Charles Dickens

It's exciting to go, but I am usually done shopping by Thanksgiving! I live in a huge metro area (NYC) so it is nuts! I have trouble walking, so it's not much fun for me anymore.

I don't know, I just LOVE IT! Maybe I have been indoctrinated by the commercialism of the Holiday but Black Friday puts Christmas in full swing for me. I have landed some seriously good deals in the past, but that is really only half the reason I go. I am an early riser to begin with (normally around 4am) so climbing out of bed an extra hour or two early isn't all that much of a problem for me.

My girl tends to be a little lethargic, but I learned that if I wake her with Dunkin Donuts Coffee she'll be more willing to comply with my demands.

No I won't. I don't like crowds at the best of times, nor will I debase myself into being one of a mindless throng scrapping for lower price at the whim of the retailers. In the UK you can find a line of very sad people outside Next at 3am on Boxing Day morning. Why? I wouldn't wear what they sold if they gave it away!
So let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend kris kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.

I always feel like I want to go- that it's a community event. It's another thing to get myself out of bed that early after the holiday. But, it's the early, dark, morning shopping that's the best, camaraderie-wise. I went to Macy's my first year, about a half hour after it opened and it was pretty much empty. They were playing Christmas music and the few shoppers that were there were so happy, smiling and in the spirit, I thought I was sold on it. Then I went to Target. That wasn't cozy and Christmasy- it was every man for himself- competitive, unhappy, irritated people. I guess it depends on the type of store that it is.
The holly's up, the house is all bright, The tree is ready, the candles alight; Rejoice and be glad, all children tonight.

It depends upon the sales going on!
