"Real" Christmas tree lot & big snowflakes

There's a lot near my house that sells real trees every year. Yesterday I drove past, and they have all the fencing and sign up. I bet the first truckload will be there by TOMORROW!! Also, our town's Main Street is putting up big lighted snowflakes on all the lamp posts this weekend!! Once those get turned on, I REALLY feel like it's Christmastime!!!

Our town puts giant wreaths with candles on the lamp posts. When I was a kid, all the towns put up garland lights that stretched across the street! They were alittle tacky, but very festive (and expensive to run)

I know what you are saying. I can picture those things going across the streets. I never saw that in person, but I've seen it in a lot of photographs.

I just love when a community does something to create a sense of warmth and celebration by putting up public displays.

Here you can't get a real tree before December. That's one of the reasons I'm so fond of artificial trees.

Alot of people will buy them in November - to get the best selection, but keep them outside until December. They will be too dried out by Christmas otherwise!

When I use to buy real trees I would always put them up on Thanksgiving weekend and I never had a problem with them drying out. I never put them in the window tho. Friends that did usually went and bought a new tree about 2 weeks before Christmas.

I once set up real tree on Dec 10th, by Dec 20th it was bone dry! It was the only time I ever took a tree down before New Years! It depends upon the type of tree and how well it's cared for on the lot!

Tree lots are officially stocked and open for business!! Also, yesterday I saw the crews fiddling with the big lamp post snowflakes. I think they're going to be fired up SOON!!!
