    Collectable ornaments

Does anyone own any collectable ornaments that have increased in value over the years?

In 1979,a friend gave me the very 1st ornament in the Frosty Friends series by Hallmark. This year is it's 31st year. It probably cost $5.00 at the time. I was looking online a few days ago and came across a site which was selling old ornaments. It's value, in perfect condition (which mine is), is now $495.00!!! Nice return on investment!

There is nothing like an older nativity set, especially one that is a family treasure!

You can make my own collectable ornaments. They make a great gift. Here's one that I made for my mother in 2004:

It shows the actual school that she attended back in the 1930's.

    Check out my website http://sites.google.com/site/handpaintedornaments/index.
It shows how to prepare ornaments for painting and there's also a gallery of ornaments that I've painted and sold the past few years.

The value is irrelevant for all of mine, since I will never get rid of them. My boys will end up taking all my our Christmas stuff they want. Now...THEY may opt to sell stuff, but I doubt it.

You're so right Minnesota Mike. I can't even get rid of the broken Christmas stuff I have, let alone something in good condition!

The last couple years, I have been trying to replace cheap, older stuff with newer, higher quality stuff. Stuff that will last many lifetimes.
