I heard that in the US and Canada people do not celebrate Advent.
Do you celebrate it? In Germany it is tradition with an advent calendar and advent wreath. Every Sunday you light a candle.

Here in Finland also. Here in Finnish church they play one certain psalm in first advent and i think that the Christmastime starts then. I have visited church several times just first advent, maybe tradition?
Now with our baby i am going to have some traditions in first Advent. Maybe doing first mince pies or gingerbreads and go to church etc.
i remember one year it started to snow just when we were at church. It was so beautiful to sing Christmas psalm and watch big snowflakes falling.![]()

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
I love Advent! A lot of Protestant churches are lighting Advent wreaths now. I love putting a Christ candle at the center.
Photobucket is down so I can't post a pic of last year's candles yet.
I sure miss MissSantaClaus.
The greatest gift I ever received was wrapped in swaddling clothes.
No Advent here in Texas.. We buy an Advent calender and every day we mark the passing of the day by opening one of the squares to reveal a new picture underneath. The calender runs until Christmas eve. Bu that is all...It sounds nice though.![]()
A Very Merry Christmas to all!
We light a candle every sunday before Christmas on our tabletop Advent wreath.
But isn't Advent meant to be celebrated after Christmas? I must be getting Advent confused with Epiphany, which is celebrated after Christmas, I think...
Yeah, advent is before Xmas.
I know we celebrate it here in Canada! (Usually only the church-goers, though. It isn't a secular observance, by any means.)
Miss you, MissSantaClaus!
