We had a VERY mild winter last year, but a VERY HEAVY winter the year before. I never know what to expect. We are as ready as we need to be. Although, I haven't raked leaves yet. They are only now beginning to fall. I need to rake/bag the leaves. I need to store my grill and my hose reel. I also need to cover up the A/C unit and turn off the water to the outdoor spigot. I still have a good 6 weeks to do all that though. Oh, and I will most likely be putting clear plastic window seals on as well.
I love Outdoor Christmas Lights!!
If I lose my power, the birdies will freeze to death but I'll have to be rescued by one of the children.
Just searching for winter weather forecast UK 2012/13 and this came up...

It may be wrong, it probably will be wrong, but it's always worth being ready.
So let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend kris kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.
