An arborist friend (tree surgeon) just turned me on to a fantastic way to place lights high in trees or even over houses. It's done by shooting a small, fist-sized, sand-filled weight (16-ounce) with thin line attached over the tree using a giant sling shot on a pole called the "Big Shot." Once the sand-filled weight returns to the ground you simply tie the extension cord to the thin line and tow it into position. This thing works fantastic, shoots incredibly high (100+ feet) and makes quick work of an otherwise horrific task. Just thought others might like to know.
