Does anyone have any ideas of how to let people know you have to tighten the belt this year? We need to cut down because of our budget but we don't want anyone to be offended or think we're cheap.

We've had situations like that and they've just said what you said- that I hope everyone understands, but we've got to tighten the belt this year for Christmas. It's not that the love and good wishes won't be there, but we've got to cut down. And if they know what kind of person you are normally, they should know you're not just trying to be cheap. My family communicates alot by email, so letting us know that way wasn't considered cold or strange. Good luck!
