Yep! She's smart, so this probably will in fact be the last year it works. We're working on other ways to get her to be appreciative about the gifts she receives, but for now this works great!

My favorite gifts? Well, that I can think of are my electric blanket, and my mug warmer. I use both of them often!
Santa Claus himself is sneaky. That's kind of a key part of Santa's being... :santa2:
Yes, they are, but this way my husband and I don't have to spend loads of our money also on gifts for SD--gifts from us and all of the "Santa" gifts can really add up.
Like I said, we're...
I'm not "pawning them off," though. :sad elf:
I guess my point has been missed by many.
I got him some old-school Nintendo pj pants, mainly, and quite a few other little things, like... stocking stuffers and other small, somewhat useless things. I found some gatorade powder singles, for...
See, we would do that but my in-laws would be offended if we asked them to limit the amount of gifts they give. I mean seriously offended; they'd probably stop talking to us. And if we gave away some...
When you do a big shopping day for Christmas gifts (and supplies! Don't forget the wrapping paper!), what kind of supplies do you bring along? Stuff to bring into the stores/malls, stuff to keep in...
She's six.
And no, she has no idea.
And yes, my husband is aware. It was his idea.
We don't have a lot of money (1 income household here, less than 25k a year), so if it saves us money and does...
It all really starts on Deck the Halls Day for me. (Deck the Halls Day is my name for the day I decorate! Always the day after Thanksgiving)
From there on out through Christmas I go NUTS and I...
My grandparents' Christmas train set! I wish I had it, but I'm sure it's sitting in my grandpa's closet. He hasn't done much for Christmas since my grandma died. I'd sure like to have that train;...
Favourite Food: Mexican--authentic enchiladas and chili rellenos!
Favourite Drink: Lemon tea with honey and a bit of extra lemon juice
Favourite Chocolate/Candy: silly question; I can't choose...
Gosh.. it's hard to choose!
I love the shopping for and wrapping gifts!
Decorating the house on "Deck the Halls Day"--my name for the day after Thanksgiving when I decorate the house!
Making...
I think it's only a few more weeks till it's in this area--would be cool to go!
Watching TV while my potatoes cook... I love mashed potatoes :smitten:
I've never gone Black Friday shopping. I always spend that day doing my decorating and wrapping all the presents I've previously purchased/made.
But we might go this year. DH doesn't work this...
Just in the last few days I fell in LOVE with those Nintendo DS Lites. So I want one of those. :candycane1:
And I want my childhood home movies put on DVD for Christmas. That'd be a GREAT gift,...
I don't really budget either. At all. I pretty much just start buying stuff early in the year with a bit of the extra money we've got; I'll take a few dollars here and there and buy a present for...
I didn't even notice it until you said something! :singing:
So THAT's what my hubby was talking about! He called me this morning on his way to work and said that he had heard about that on the radio, but I couldn't figure out what the heck he was talking...
We've always cut down our own; this is the Evergreen State, afterall. U-cut trees last longer before drying out than pre-cut trees do, so pre-cut trees tend to be more of a fire-hazard. They sit in a...
No, they actually don't ask her at all, and they don't expect her to thank them--and it never occurs to her, either. The gifts are pretty shallow, they're VERY numerous, and she doesn't appreciate a...
Last year I made our Christmas dinner; it was just my husband and I. I made a LOT of food, but almost all of it got eaten. The best part of Christmas dinner is the leftovers! And you can freeze...
My stepdaughter gets so many presents for Christmas from her gma and aunt (and the rest of the family!) that I confiscate like, half of her presents.
And some of those get wrapped again the...
It's totally unhealthy, but this is what we always have for Christmas breakfast:
