We didn't have stockings when I was growing up, so I have a hard time understanding why we should or what to put in them. But I hang them and put toys for grandchildren to play with at our house, and silly things like bars of soap, or pens or craft scissors. I have no emotional attachment to the custom but I like the looks of Christmas stockings hanging on their hooks.

Stockings are kinda new in my family. We do them last sometimes after dinner. It's something I definitely want to do with my kids when I have them.
