Classic Christmas

So, as a kid I used to hate it when any of the "Nutcracker" music came on. I wanted "Frosty", and "Rudolph", and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town". I could never figure out what was so Christmasy about The Nutcracker.

But over the years I have really come to appreciate the music. It's to the point now that it wouldn't be Christmas until I heard The Nutcracker Suite.

It really is an excellent piece of musicianship and creativity, in my opinion.

Anyone else experience a late appreciation for The Nutcracker?

I'm not opposed to it. Just no opportunity, I guess.

I find it's great background music for a Christmas party. Everybody knows it as Christmas music, but because there are no lyrics it doesn't distract from coversations.

I happened to listen to the Nutcracker Suite alot around the summer solstice one year, so now I equate the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies with Mid-Summer's Eve (with all the fireflies). I tried to listen to the whole album earlier this month and it sounded like summer music to me- not Christmas! :dizzy:
