The Real Meaning of Christmas
A Christmas Poem by Joseph P. Martino
Two thousand years ago the King of Kings was born.
'The Lamb of God' later made to feel the thorn,
If his words are accepted and not scorned,
They will make us all reborn.
Though God's grace, Joseph and Mary presented
A gift to the world that day, which we can all repay,
by living the ten commandments each and every day.
Try to remember and keep in your heart and mind
Jesus's gospel while here on Earth,
Redemption not a life lived in constant mirth.
Peace on Earth, good will toward man
Everyone should try it, whenever they can.
The Lord gave us the option and choice of 'free will,'
Now it's up to us to fit the bill.
So when you’re Christmas shopping for family and friends,
and money is tight at both ends,
Remember that the greatest gift of all,
Is your love of Jesus in the manger stall.

Walking through rows and rows of trees
Looking for my perfect Christmas tree
Large trees, small trees, seas and seas of trees
I am looking for a nice plump tree
Trees with needles to hard or needles to soft
Hanging an ornament on needles to soft
Will cause the precious ornament to fall off
So I have to bypass a tree with needles to soft
It is a displeasure to search in this warm weather
It is only a pleasure when the tree is better
The needles must have a perfect fit
We have many lights and ornaments to hang on it
Some say I am too picky
Finding the right tree can be so tricky
I look for size and shape
THere can not be holes to gape
After finding a perfect tree for me
I love the trimming of my tree
Lights, ornaments and candy decorate my tree
THis is the beauty of Christmas to me
I love the heavy smell of pine in the air
THe holidays are my time of year
It can be a beautiful sight
When viewing it in the dark of night

Christmas bells are ringing
A chorus of Angels are singing
THe little chrildren are dreaming
While sipping chocolate and singing
The brilliant lights of Christmas
Mistletoe sealing the season with a kiss
Santa Claus is checking his list
Searching for the perfect gift
Everyone is singing Christmas caroles
Silent Night, Deck the Halls, Hark the Herald Angels
Around a tall brightly lit Christmas tree
Sipping a hot steamy cup of Christmas tea
CHristmas candles are lit with care
The heavy scent of pine fills the air
Each ornament is hung with special care
Oh how the smell of the holidays fill the air
THe goodies are in the making
All the cookies are in the oven baking
THe chocolates we are all making
THe cakes are baked and waiting for the icing
The smell of the house is so enticing
To the weary guest it is so inviting
There is just something about the Christmas lighting
It is always so enticing and always so inviting
The holidays are here again this time of year
Let's fill the house with all our Christmas cheer
It is everyone's favorite time of year
Come on everyone let us spread the CHristmas cheer

THis is my Christmas list
I would love to have a great big kiss
A loving poem to whet my lips
Some shiny gloss to coat my lips
THis is my CHristmas wish
I would love to feel those fingertips
As they dab perfume upon my wrist
Followed by a delicate kiss upon my wrist
THis is my CHristmas list for you
All I want this year is to spend it with you
TO wake up next to you
Feeling your love the whole year through
If it is a present I must recieve
I would a framed picture of you and me
If that is not what you want to see
Then my love buy a book of erotic poetry
This is my CHristmas list for thee
A lisa Frank coloring book would fill me with glee
Or perhaps a cuddly Teddy Bear to remind me of thee
Anything that you shall get will mean the world to me
This is my Christmas list as you can see
If I were to recieve that brand new CD
I would wish for you to dance with me
I love to hear you sing to me
For as you can see
You are the best gift you can give to me
FOr it is my love for you that is meant to be
You are the perfect CHristmas gift for me

I have a book called "Christmas Memory Lane" and it has some beautiful poems and stories in it.
It was put out by ideals publication in 1963. If you ever see this book in a store or online you won't be sorry if your purchase it. The cover is beautiful with a horse and sleigh, snow, church with lights on and a big lamp post.
I would love to post a few poems from this book but I question whether it's legal to post them online and I would not want to cause trouble.

I don't think you would get in trouble as long as you post the authors info and You aren't gaining anything from putting them online. :tree:

And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: 'How could it be so?'
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes or bags!
And he puzzled three hours, 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.
Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!
Dr. Seuss
This year I made up a heap of business-card-sized homemade cards with this snippet on it and decorated them with ribbons and stars and Christmas tree cut-outs and I will be putting one into each Christmas card I send.
