Giftcards can be a cop out, its true. But I think in some case giving a giftcard is just as thoughtful and appreciated by the recipient as if I spent a weekend trying to dig up something more personal.

I have three sisters in their late teens and early twenties... so they are generally thrilled to get a gift card to any of their favorite clothing stores. I also have a brother (single in his twenties) who seems to appreciate giftcards for eating out as much as anything else I could give him.

I think gift card are given in deep thought. Most people would rather have a gift card over something useless. I would love gift cards but neither mine or my hubby's family believe in giving them. so it is presents we get. I am running out of places for my candle gardens and tealight lanterns but I do use them for a few months before putting them up . :carols:

Gift cards are kinda a cop-out, but sometimes they are the right call. If you know someone really loves a particular store then it works perfectly. And I've got HMV gift cards for music lovers I know... 'cause generally music lovers are pretty particular and I wouldn't want to get them the wrong thing.

GC are great for those hard to buy for people and especially teens. Because they may like something one week and not the next. !

Send a funny Christmas ecard to kids would be a good idea
